The Road So Far...

Dear Friends,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has helped me to get this far.

I started Moni Art Studios in the beginning of June and I have been very busy since.

We started my launch with a solo show for Art After Dark at the Gala Center in San Luis Obispo. With the loving support of Lynn Schmidt, photographer and gallery curator, we come up with the best way to display my artwork and put on a show that truly was amazing.

Out of this show, I was honored find my first art collector and to walk down memory lane by hanging one of my art works in my late father's old court chambers. Truly this was a magical moment I will never forget.

After that successful night, my boss at Art Central, http://artcentralartsupply.com/ Etty Pacifico, lovingly suggested that I do an outdoor show like Moro Bay Art in the Park. So, at the last minute, I emailed the show coordinator. As expected, they were all filled up but I put my name on the wait list. Four days before the show, I received an email informing me that someone had drop out and inviting me to be in the show. I immediately said yes and then realized I didn’t have a tent for the show. I was beyond grateful to Etty for lending me her 10 x 10 tent and I was so relieved she did.

My first show went on with great success and I got the experience to set up and break down an art show. Out of this show, I not only got a new collector for my artwork but my artist friend Patrick Dennis, http://www.patrickgallery.com/, gave me an honorable mention in his news article for the Tribune Cambria Arts and Events paper.

Right after that show, my friend Stephen Patrick, who owns Stephen Patrick Design Studios, http://stephenpatrick.com/, a very successful design studio in downtown San Luis Obispo, wanted to do a window display of my artwork. Completely humbled, I brought over some art pieces right away to display in his studio window.

Having this display ready for the next SLO Art After Dark, we had a great art event. Stephen's husband, Todd, who owns the hair salon next door called Bladdrunner, http://www.thebladerunner.com/, had wanted to hang my art in his salon from the very beginning of the window display.

So, he displayed my art on the walls of his salon for the next Art After Dark event and we had yet an another amazing art show.

The very next weekend, I was accepted into the Thousand Oaks Art Festival. So, I had to retrieve some of my paintings, from the salon for that weekend and promised to bring them back if they did not sell in the show.

The response at the outdoor Thousand Oaks Art festival was amazing. I met so many kind and loving people and hope to see them again in upcoming shows. This show I was worried that the weather was not going to be kind to us but it did. When we drove up to the show Saturday, the rain had stopped and started clearing up. By Sunday morning, you would never have known it rained the previous day.

In these shows, you become great friends with the other vendors that display their art. One example is my neighbor, John Conroy, who creates some amazing graphic art at www.cooolcats.com Please check him out when you get a chance. It was wonderful meeting him and made the show better.

It has been an amazing journey so far and I can't wait to see what the future holds for me. As I may have mentioned to people who signed my guest book, I am in the process of developing a blog to keep people who love art up-to-date on my career.

So here is my first email blog to all of you.

I will be doing shorter blogs in the future and only twice a month. If you have not had the chance yet, please take a look at my portfolio at https://www.gregorymoni.com/portfolio-1 and if there are any paintings you are interested in, please get in touch with me.

I am also available to do commissions. I can create a special piece to hang in your home.

Thank you again for your loving support and kindness while I continue my new journey as a professional artist. Please stay tuned because I will have some exciting news to share at beginning of November.
